I consider it an honor and privilege to be asked to speak outside of my local church family. In the words of Paul, doing so not only allows me to “impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you” but “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” (Rom. 1:11-12). While my calling is to serve the Oceanside United Reformed Church, my “consistory” (overseeing elders) and congregation do give me time to speak outside the congregation.
